Does this sound familiar?
What parents tell us on the first call
Most parents who call us have been worried for a while. Here is some of what we hear.
- My child is anxious all the time, and it keeps getting worse.
- Storms and hurricane season have my child scared.
- Getting my kid to school has turned into a fight every morning.
- My child can't seem to make or keep friends.
- We're going through a divorce, and the kids are having a hard time.
- My teen asked to talk to someone.
- My teen does everything right, and is still falling apart.
Many of the kids and teens we see look fine from the outside. They are bright, busy, and polite, and they are working very hard to hold it all together. If that sounds like your child, you are not imagining it.
What happens when you reach out
You talk, we listen, and you decide. Nothing is booked until you're ready.
-
You reach out
Request a consult, or call 727-300-1860 and leave a message. Tell us a little about what is going on.
-
A 15-minute phone consult
Usually, the person who calls you back is the therapist you'd actually be working with. They listen, answer your questions, and talk through what could help. It is a chance for both of us to decide if we are the right fit. If we are not, we will help you find who is.
-
Your first appointment
This first visit is about getting to know you. Your therapist learns your history and what you'd like to change. You fill out the paperwork online beforehand, so the time goes to talking. The goal is that you leave with a clear path forward.
-
Ongoing support
You keep seeing the same therapist, usually once a week at first, in our St. Pete office or by telehealth. Together, you check in on progress and adjust the plan as things change.
Psychologists and counselors who know young people
Each of our clinicians has their own focus, from play therapy with young children to testing to support for young adults. On the consult call, we connect you with the one who fits.

Clear answers, and a plan the school can use
Psychological testing for children, teens, and adults.
Most of our evaluations are for school: IEP and 504 plans, college and SAT or ACT accommodations, and gifted programs. With your permission, we can also talk with your child's school counselor, or a therapist they already see, when it helps.
- Attention and learning ADHD and learning evaluations ADHD, dyslexia and other learning differences, and school or SAT and ACT accommodations.
- Children and adults Autism evaluations Neurodiversity-affirming autism evaluations, including for teens and adults who mask.
- Gifted programs Gifted testing Intelligence testing for gifted program eligibility, and for bright kids who are struggling.
How an evaluation works
- An intake appointment about history, school, and what you want to know.
- A testing session, usually one morning of about four hours.
- Questionnaires for you and, with your permission, for teachers.
- A written report, usually about two weeks after the questionnaires are in.
- A one-hour feedback session with you, in person or online, to go through the results, what they mean, and what to do next.
Questions about cost?
We are mostly a private-pay practice, for therapy and for testing.
-
Fees before you book
We go over fees on the consult call, before anything is booked. You also have the right to a Good Faith Estimate in writing.
-
Using your insurance
We give you a superbill, a detailed receipt you can send your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
-
Step Up for Students
We accept FES-UA scholarships for both therapy and testing.
Questions parents often ask
How do I know if my child needs therapy or testing?
You do not have to know. Tell us what you are seeing at home or at school, and we will help you decide. Therapy helps with coping, feelings, and behavior. Testing gives clearer answers about attention, learning, autism, or giftedness, and a plan the school can use.
What ages do you work with?
Therapy for children, teens, and young adults into their twenties, with play therapy for younger children. Testing from about age 3 through adulthood, including adults who want answers about ADHD or autism. We also see parents on their own.
Will my teen's therapist tell me what they say?
Not everything. Privacy is part of what helps teens open up. At the start, the therapist explains to both of you what stays between them and your teen, and what they will always share with you, such as anything about safety.
Do you offer telehealth?
Yes. You can meet in our St. Petersburg office or online, and telehealth is open to clients anywhere in Florida. Some of our clinicians work by telehealth only. Sessions run on a secure platform you can use from a phone, tablet, or computer.
How long does therapy last?
It depends on your child and your goals. Some families come for a few months and some for years. Weekly sessions are usual at the start; as goals are met, sessions spread out. We check in with you along the way and adjust as things change.
Are you LGBTQIA+ affirming?
Yes. LGBTQIA+ children, teens, young adults, and families are welcome here. Several of our clinicians focus on identity, including questions about gender identity and sexuality. On the consult call, we connect you with the clinician who fits.
When you're ready, we're here.
Reaching out is often the hardest step. From there, we figure it out together.
